“You are a member of the Settlement Group if you are a person (or entity) in the United States or its Territories and Possessions who purchased prerecorded Music Products, consisting of compact discs, cassettes and vinyl albums, from one or more retailers during the period January 1, 1995, through December 22, 2000.”
If you bought recorded music during those six years, you are eligible to receive between $5 and $20 [total, not per purchase] as part of the distributor and retailer settlement in a price fixing case.
If enough music buyers sign up to push the average payout below $5, the money will instead be donated to music-related charities, which is really what should happen.
The first FAQ is great..
1. Am I being sued?
No, you are not being sued. Certain companies are being sued.
