SBC plans public Wi-Fi network

“The telecommunications company is shopping for wireless networking equipment to create public hot spots.”

It would be be great if Comcast were to react to this by encouraging their customers to set up WiFi hotspots in their homes, to allow connections from other Comcast subscribers. It would stem the admittedly unseen tide of customers ditching them for the all-encompassing Verizon/SBC/etc. WiFi network. It would be neat, but I suppose that it’s pretty unlikely.
